Pakistan (UTC+5) is 4 hours ahead of Belgium in winter (CET) and 3 in summer (CEST). We share 5–6 working hours every day — the same rhythm I used while building Continuity for the Belgian SME market: live collaboration in your morning, written updates for the rest.

It is the pattern Continuity was built on, so I can describe it from practice rather than in principle. My working day covers your morning and the first part of your afternoon; from mid-afternoon Brussels time onward I am off, and anything raised then is picked up at the start of my next morning, which begins before yours does — so answers are usually waiting when you open your laptop. In practice that pushed the decisions needing a conversation into the morning window and left the rest to written updates, which never became the bottleneck people expect it to be. Every message gets a response within 24 hours. Time-critical items are best flagged during the overlap so they can be handled live.

Two routes. A direct services agreement with defined milestones, invoiced on completion, drafted in English — in a country that runs its administration in both Dutch and French, English is usually the path of least resistance for everyone at the table. Or a contract through Upwork, where escrow and payment protection sit with the platform, which is often simpler for a first engagement. I work as an independent contractor supplying services, not as an employee. If your accountant needs invoices to carry specific wording, a reference, or your company number — in Dutch or in French — tell me at the outset and that is how they are issued.

Quotes are issued in US dollars, and the starting figure noted below is USD. The euro amount depends on the exchange rate the day you pay, so quoting a EUR figure here would guarantee it was stale by the time you read it. What does not move is the scope and the price: both are written down after the intro call and hold for the project. Payment comes by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork, whichever fits your process. Your own BTW or TVA treatment — whichever language your bookkeeping runs in — is worth confirming with your accountant, since it depends on your registration status rather than anything at my end.

With a short intro call — 30 minutes to talk through what you're building and whether I'm the right fit. If we're aligned, you get a written, scoped proposal covering deliverables, architecture, and timeline. I respond to every enquiry within 24 hours.

Written updates as work progresses, a demo of working software every week, and async-first communication over email or Slack. You always know what was done, what's next, and what's blocking — without scheduling a meeting to find out.

You do. Full IP ownership transfers to you — source code, documentation, and infrastructure configuration. Repositories are set up under your organisation's control from the start wherever possible.

Most engagements start around $5K; smaller well-scoped work is considered case-by-case. After the intro call you get a fixed, written quote — no surprises mid-project.
