Hire a Full-Stack Developer in Ireland

Senior full-stack engineering with 4–5 hours of Dublin overlap.

I'm Waseem Ahmad, a full-stack developer and AI engineer shipping for remote-first teams since 2022. Ireland's tech scene is built on distributed work, and the time difference is manageable: Pakistan runs 4–5 hours ahead, so my afternoon covers your whole morning. Recent work spans an HL7 hospital gateway for a US medical device company, an SEC-regulated fintech backend, and Continuity — an M&A marketplace for the Belgian SME market.

Based in Pakistan (UTC+5), 4–5 hours ahead of Irish time — my afternoon covers your full morning, every working day.

The challenge

Irish tech salaries have followed the multinationals upward, putting senior engineers out of reach for many smaller teams. Working with me directly gets you senior-level output — regulated backends, healthcare integrations, AI features — without an agency in between, and with weekly demos keeping progress honest.

What I build

Full-Stack Web Applications

Next.js, React, and Node.js applications built end to end — from data model and API to a deployed, documented product.

Healthcare & HL7/FHIR Integration

Regulated healthcare systems, including an HL7 gateway that processes 10,000+ clinical messages a day from 200+ hospital monitors.

Fintech & Regulated Backends

Compliance-heavy backend engineering, including an SEC Reg CF crowdfunding platform shipped with 248 passing tests and zero production bugs.

AI Features & Integrations

LLM-powered product features, such as the Claude AI capabilities built into the Continuity M&A marketplace.

Marketplace Platforms

Two-sided marketplaces from schema to launch — Continuity (M&A deals) and HomeBrigadier (UAE services) are both live today.

APIs & System Integration

REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations delivered with documentation and automated tests.

Frequently asked questions

Do you overlap with Irish working hours?
Yes — Pakistan (UTC+5) is 5 hours ahead of GMT and 4 ahead of Irish Summer Time, so my afternoon covers your entire morning. That's 4–5 hours of live overlap daily for calls and pairing, while my own morning produces work that's ready for review when you come online.
What happens to our afternoon once your day has finished?
It runs without me, and that is a larger share of your day than it would be for a team on continental time — Irish clocks sit an hour further from mine than Paris or Zurich do, so the window closes early in your afternoon rather than mid-afternoon. That is worth knowing before you start rather than discovering in week three. It also fits how a lot of Irish offices already work: if your afternoon is the block where you deal with US colleagues, it was never the part of the day you would have spent with me. Anything raised then is answered before you are back at your desk, and every message gets a response within 24 hours.
What does an Irish company need in place to engage a contractor abroad?
Usually less than expected. I work as an independent contractor supplying services from Pakistan, not as an employee, so there is no local entity and no payroll arrangement involved. Two contracting routes: a direct services agreement with defined milestones invoiced on completion, or a contract through Upwork, where escrow and payment protection sit with the platform — often simpler for a first engagement. If you are the Irish arm of a US-headquartered group, your finance function almost certainly has a foreign-supplier path mapped out already, in which case this is a supplier form and a purchase order rather than anything new. Tell me what your onboarding needs and I will complete it.
Do you quote in euros, and how does payment work from Ireland?
Quotes are issued in US dollars, and the starting figure noted below is in dollars too. The euro amount depends on the exchange rate the day you pay, so a EUR number printed here would be stale by the time you read it. What is fixed is the scope and the price, written down after the intro call and unchanged mid-project. Dollar invoices tend to be unremarkable for Irish finance teams, who already settle plenty of them for US software vendors. Payment is by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork, whichever fits your process. Your own VAT treatment on services bought from outside the EU is worth confirming with your accountant, since it depends on your registration status rather than anything at my end.
How does an engagement start?
With a short intro call — 30 minutes to talk through what you're building and whether I'm the right fit. If we're aligned, you get a written, scoped proposal covering deliverables, architecture, and timeline. I respond to every enquiry within 24 hours.
How does communication work day to day?
Written updates as work progresses, a demo of working software every week, and async-first communication over email or Slack. You always know what was done, what's next, and what's blocking — without scheduling a meeting to find out.
How do contracts and invoicing work?
A straightforward services agreement with milestones, or a contract through Upwork if you prefer escrow and their payment protection. Payment by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork.
Who owns the code and intellectual property?
You do. Full IP ownership transfers to you — source code, documentation, and infrastructure configuration. Repositories are set up under your organisation's control from the start wherever possible.
What does an engagement typically cost?
Most engagements start around $5K; smaller well-scoped work is considered case-by-case. After the intro call you get a fixed, written quote — no surprises mid-project.
