Full-Stack Development for Teams in Sweden

Production-grade TypeScript, a short 3–4 hours from Swedish time.

I'm Waseem Ahmad, a full-stack developer and AI engineer shipping production software for remote teams since 2022. Working with Sweden is straightforward: Pakistan runs just 3–4 hours ahead of CET, so your morning standup and my working day overlap by 5–6 hours. I bring a regulated-industry background — HIPAA healthcare and SEC Reg CF fintech — plus recent European marketplace work with Continuity, live at continuity.deals.

Based in Pakistan (UTC+5), just 3–4 hours ahead of Sweden — 5–6 hours of shared working time every day.

The challenge

Swedish teams value transparency and consensus — which breaks down when an external developer disappears into a black box. My process keeps everything visible: a written scope before we start, working demos each week, and async updates your whole team can read.

What I build

Full-Stack Web Applications

Next.js, React, and Node.js applications built end to end — from data model and API to a deployed, documented product.

Healthcare & HL7/FHIR Integration

Regulated healthcare systems, including an HL7 gateway that processes 10,000+ clinical messages a day from 200+ hospital monitors.

Fintech & Regulated Backends

Compliance-heavy backend engineering, including an SEC Reg CF crowdfunding platform shipped with 248 passing tests and zero production bugs.

AI Features & Integrations

LLM-powered product features, such as the Claude AI capabilities built into the Continuity M&A marketplace.

Marketplace Platforms

Two-sided marketplaces from schema to launch — Continuity (M&A deals) and HomeBrigadier (UAE services) are both live today.

APIs & System Integration

REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations delivered with documentation and automated tests.

Frequently asked questions

How much overlap do you have with Swedish working hours?
Pakistan (UTC+5) is 4 hours ahead of Sweden in winter (CET) and 3 in summer (CEST). We share 5–6 working hours every day — I'm available across your morning and into mid-afternoon, with my remaining hours producing work you can review before your day ends.
What happens once the overlap ends in our afternoon?
Live time runs across your morning to roughly 2pm CET, 3pm in summer, and the day continues in writing after that. Swedish teams tend to lose less to this than others, because decisions here are usually anchored across the group rather than settled on the spot in a call — a written proposal people can read and respond to is the normal medium, not a concession to distance. So mornings carry standups, reviews, and anything that needs discussion, and the rest of my day goes to build work with a written update at the end of it. July is worth planning around explicitly, since much of a Swedish team can be away at the same time: scope for that month gets agreed in advance rather than assumed. Replies come within 24 hours throughout.
How does a Swedish company contract a developer based in Pakistan?
As a supplier of services, under one of two structures. A direct services agreement with defined milestones, each invoiced on completion, or a contract through Upwork, where escrow and payment protection sit with the platform — usually the simpler route for a first engagement. I work as an independent contractor supplying services, never as an employee. Two things your finance team will notice on the supplier form: I have no Swedish organisationsnummer and no F-skattsedel, because I am not registered in Sweden. That is ordinary for a supplier abroad, but Swedish purchasing routines ask for both by default, so it is worth raising at onboarding rather than at the first invoice. How they record it on their side is their determination rather than mine.
Do you quote in kronor?
Quotes are issued in US dollars, and the starting figure noted below is USD. Sweden kept the krona rather than joining the euro, and SEK has moved enough against the dollar in recent years that a kronor figure printed here would be misleading by the time you read it — the amount you actually book depends on the rate the day you pay. Scope and price are what stay fixed: after the intro call the written quote does not move mid-project. Swedish companies already buy most of their tooling in dollars, so this is rarely new ground for a finance team. Payment is by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork. Your own moms treatment is worth confirming with your accountant, since it depends on your registration status rather than anything at my end.
How does an engagement start?
With a short intro call — 30 minutes to talk through what you're building and whether I'm the right fit. If we're aligned, you get a written, scoped proposal covering deliverables, architecture, and timeline. I respond to every enquiry within 24 hours.
How does communication work day to day?
Written updates as work progresses, a demo of working software every week, and async-first communication over email or Slack. You always know what was done, what's next, and what's blocking — without scheduling a meeting to find out.
How do contracts and invoicing work?
A straightforward services agreement with milestones, or a contract through Upwork if you prefer escrow and their payment protection. Payment by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork.
Who owns the code and intellectual property?
You do. Full IP ownership transfers to you — source code, documentation, and infrastructure configuration. Repositories are set up under your organisation's control from the start wherever possible.
What does an engagement typically cost?
Most engagements start around $5K; smaller well-scoped work is considered case-by-case. After the intro call you get a fixed, written quote — no surprises mid-project.
