Full-Stack Development for Teams in Denmark

Async-first, demo-driven development, 3–4 hours from Danish time.

I'm Waseem Ahmad, a full-stack developer and AI engineer working with distributed teams since 2022 — 55+ projects shipped and Top Rated Plus standing on Upwork. Denmark's working day and mine overlap by 5–6 hours (Pakistan is just 3–4 hours ahead of CET), so collaboration happens in real time rather than across awkward handoffs. Recent European work includes Continuity, an M&A marketplace live at continuity.deals.

Based in Pakistan (UTC+5), just 3–4 hours ahead of Denmark — 5–6 hours of shared working time every day.

The challenge

Danish teams run flat, direct, and async-friendly — a working style that matches mine exactly. No status theatre: a scoped plan before work begins, working demos each week, honest written updates in between, and a response to any message within 24 hours.

What I build

Frequently asked questions

How much overlap do you have with Danish working hours?
Pakistan (UTC+5) is 4 hours ahead of Denmark in winter (CET) and 3 in summer (CEST). That gives us 5–6 hours of shared working time daily — standups, reviews, and quick questions all happen live during your morning and early afternoon.
What happens when your working day ends and our Danish afternoon is still running?
Less than you might expect, because Danish working days often start and finish earlier than they do further south. If yours runs from around eight to around four, most of it already sits inside my window and the handoff falls late in your afternoon rather than in the middle of it. Whatever is raised after I stop gets picked up at the start of my next morning, which begins before yours does, so answers are usually waiting when you sit down. Every message gets a response within 24 hours regardless. Anything genuinely time-critical is worth flagging during the morning overlap so it can be handled live rather than in writing — the rest is fine async, which is how most Danish teams prefer to work anyway.
How does a Danish company contract an independent developer based in Pakistan?
Two routes, whichever your finance team prefers. A direct services agreement with defined milestones, invoiced on completion, which suits companies that already have a supplier onboarding process and want the paperwork inside their own system. Or a contract through Upwork, where escrow and payment protection are handled by the platform — often simpler for a first engagement, or where you would rather a third party held the money until a milestone is signed off. I work as an independent contractor supplying services, not as an employee, and agreements are written in English. If your finance system expects invoices routed or referenced a particular way — an EAN number, a purchase order, a specific line on every invoice — tell me at the start and that is how they are issued.
Do you quote in kroner?
Quotes are issued in US dollars, and the starting figure noted below is USD. Denmark keeps its own currency, so a Danish price sits one conversion further away than it would for a euro-area client, and the krone amount that leaves your account depends on the rate the day you pay — printing a DKK figure here would guarantee it was wrong by the time you read it. What is fixed is the scope and the price: after the intro call you get a written quote that does not move mid-project. Payment comes by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork. Your own moms treatment is worth confirming with your accountant, since it depends on your registration status rather than anything at my end.
How does an engagement start?
With a short intro call — 30 minutes to talk through what you're building and whether I'm the right fit. If we're aligned, you get a written, scoped proposal covering deliverables, architecture, and timeline. I respond to every enquiry within 24 hours.
How does communication work day to day?
Written updates as work progresses, a demo of working software every week, and async-first communication over email or Slack. You always know what was done, what's next, and what's blocking — without scheduling a meeting to find out.
How do contracts and invoicing work?
A straightforward services agreement with milestones, or a contract through Upwork if you prefer escrow and their payment protection. Payment by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork.
Who owns the code and intellectual property?
You do. Full IP ownership transfers to you — source code, documentation, and infrastructure configuration. Repositories are set up under your organisation's control from the start wherever possible.
What does an engagement typically cost?
Most engagements start around $5K; smaller well-scoped work is considered case-by-case. After the intro call you get a fixed, written quote — no surprises mid-project.
