Full-Stack Development for Teams in Switzerland

Regulated-industry engineering — healthcare, fintech, and marketplaces.

I'm Waseem Ahmad, a full-stack developer and AI engineer delivering production systems since 2022. Swiss teams tend to care about correctness and compliance, which matches how I work: my flagship projects are an HL7 hospital gateway processing 10,000+ clinical messages a day and an SEC Reg CF fintech backend that shipped with 248 passing tests and zero production bugs. With only 3–4 hours between Pakistan and Swiss time, we share most of the working day.

Based in Pakistan (UTC+5), just 3–4 hours ahead of Switzerland — 5–6 hours of shared working time every day.

The challenge

Swiss companies pay some of the highest engineering rates in Europe and still carry risk with every external hire. I reduce that risk the only way that counts: a verifiable track record — 248 passing tests and zero production bugs on my last regulated backend — a written scope, and weekly demonstrations of real progress.

What I build

Full-Stack Web Applications

Next.js, React, and Node.js applications built end to end — from data model and API to a deployed, documented product.

Healthcare & HL7/FHIR Integration

Regulated healthcare systems, including an HL7 gateway that processes 10,000+ clinical messages a day from 200+ hospital monitors.

Fintech & Regulated Backends

Compliance-heavy backend engineering, including an SEC Reg CF crowdfunding platform shipped with 248 passing tests and zero production bugs.

AI Features & Integrations

LLM-powered product features, such as the Claude AI capabilities built into the Continuity M&A marketplace.

Marketplace Platforms

Two-sided marketplaces from schema to launch — Continuity (M&A deals) and HomeBrigadier (UAE services) are both live today.

APIs & System Integration

REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations delivered with documentation and automated tests.

Frequently asked questions

What overlap do you have with Swiss working hours?
Pakistan (UTC+5) is 4 hours ahead of Switzerland in winter (CET) and 3 in summer (CEST). That means 5–6 hours of shared working time daily — enough to run standups, reviews, and pairing sessions live, with written updates covering the rest.
What happens after the overlap window closes and our Swiss afternoon is still running?
Your afternoon runs without me and I take it up at the start of my next day, which begins before yours does — so anything raised after the window is usually answered before you are back at your desk. If your office starts at 8, as many Swiss ones do, the live window opens with your day rather than an hour into it. Every message gets a response within 24 hours regardless. Teams split across Zurich, Geneva, and Basel sites tend to already run on written handovers rather than corridor conversations, and that is the same discipline this needs: decisions recorded where the next person can find them instead of settled verbally and lost.
How would a Swiss company contract an independent developer based in Pakistan?
Two routes. A direct services agreement with defined milestones, invoiced on completion, which suits companies that already run a supplier onboarding process — and if yours includes a canton-level procurement step, as it can for public bodies and canton-funded organisations, tell me which documents the registration needs and I will provide them. Or a contract through Upwork, where escrow and payment protection sit with the platform, which is often simpler for a first engagement. I work as an independent contractor supplying services, not as an employee, so there is no secondment, no local entity, and no payroll relationship to set up at your end.
Do you quote in Swiss francs?
Quotes are issued in US dollars — the starting figure noted below is USD — and the franc amount depends on the exchange rate the day you pay, so a CHF number printed here would be wrong by the time you read it. What is fixed is the scope and the price: after the intro call you get a written quote that does not move mid-project. Swiss finance teams generally hold and settle in more than one currency already, so a dollar invoice is rarely the obstacle it can be elsewhere. Payment is by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork. Switzerland sits outside both the EU and the EEA, and your own MWST treatment is worth confirming with your accountant, since it depends on your registration status rather than anything at my end.
How does an engagement start?
With a short intro call — 30 minutes to talk through what you're building and whether I'm the right fit. If we're aligned, you get a written, scoped proposal covering deliverables, architecture, and timeline. I respond to every enquiry within 24 hours.
How does communication work day to day?
Written updates as work progresses, a demo of working software every week, and async-first communication over email or Slack. You always know what was done, what's next, and what's blocking — without scheduling a meeting to find out.
How do contracts and invoicing work?
A straightforward services agreement with milestones, or a contract through Upwork if you prefer escrow and their payment protection. Payment by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork.
Who owns the code and intellectual property?
You do. Full IP ownership transfers to you — source code, documentation, and infrastructure configuration. Repositories are set up under your organisation's control from the start wherever possible.
What does an engagement typically cost?
Most engagements start around $5K; smaller well-scoped work is considered case-by-case. After the intro call you get a fixed, written quote — no surprises mid-project.
