Full-Stack Development for Teams in Norway

TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js — 5–6 shared hours with Norwegian time.

I'm Waseem Ahmad, a full-stack developer and AI engineer building production software for international teams since 2022. Norwegian teams work with me across a small 3–4 hour gap: 5–6 hours of shared time daily, with written updates covering the rest. My background is regulated engineering — HIPAA healthcare integrations, HL7/FHIR data flows, and an SEC Reg CF crowdfunding backend that shipped with 248 passing tests.

Based in Pakistan (UTC+5), just 3–4 hours ahead of Norway — 5–6 hours of shared working time every day.

The challenge

Norwegian companies often default to local consultancies because oversight of remote work feels hard. I make oversight the default instead: everything written down, working software demonstrated every week, and a shared 5–6 hour window every day for real-time questions.

What I build

Full-Stack Web Applications

Next.js, React, and Node.js applications built end to end — from data model and API to a deployed, documented product.

Healthcare & HL7/FHIR Integration

Regulated healthcare systems, including an HL7 gateway that processes 10,000+ clinical messages a day from 200+ hospital monitors.

Fintech & Regulated Backends

Compliance-heavy backend engineering, including an SEC Reg CF crowdfunding platform shipped with 248 passing tests and zero production bugs.

AI Features & Integrations

LLM-powered product features, such as the Claude AI capabilities built into the Continuity M&A marketplace.

Marketplace Platforms

Two-sided marketplaces from schema to launch — Continuity (M&A deals) and HomeBrigadier (UAE services) are both live today.

APIs & System Integration

REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations delivered with documentation and automated tests.

Frequently asked questions

What overlap do you have with Norwegian working hours?
Pakistan (UTC+5) is 4 hours ahead of Norway in winter (CET) and 3 in summer (CEST). We share 5–6 working hours every day — your morning and early afternoon are live collaboration time, and my remaining hours produce work you can review before your evening.
What happens once the shared window closes on our side?
The rest of your afternoon runs async and I take it up at the start of my next day. The tail is shorter here than in most markets I work with: a team finishing at four leaves roughly two hours running without me, where one working until six leaves twice that. An early Norwegian start helps at the other end as well — if your day begins at eight, I am already online for it rather than arriving an hour later. Anything raised after the window is usually answered before you are back at your desk, since my morning starts well before yours, and every message gets a response within 24 hours.
How does a Norwegian company contract a developer based outside the EEA?
As an independent contractor supplying services — never as an employee, so there is no hiring, no local entity, and no payroll to arrange. Two routes: a direct services agreement with defined milestones, invoiced on completion, or a contract through Upwork, where escrow and payment protection sit with the platform, which is often simpler for a first engagement. Norway sits outside the EU while inside the EEA, and Pakistan is outside both — a combination your finance team will have handled before for other non-European suppliers. If your accounts payable has requirements on the invoice itself, whether a purchase order reference, your organisation number, or a specific e-invoicing format, tell me the format and I will issue it that way.
Do you quote in kroner?
No — quotes are issued in US dollars, and the starting figure noted below is a dollar figure. The krone-dollar rate moves enough that a NOK number printed here would be wrong by the time you read it, which is why you will not find one. What does not move is the scope and the price, both fixed in writing after the intro call. Norway is outside the euro area, so there is a conversion in this either way, whether a supplier bills you in dollars or in euros. Payment is by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork. Your own MVA treatment is worth confirming with your accountant, since it depends on your registration status rather than anything at my end.
How does an engagement start?
With a short intro call — 30 minutes to talk through what you're building and whether I'm the right fit. If we're aligned, you get a written, scoped proposal covering deliverables, architecture, and timeline. I respond to every enquiry within 24 hours.
How does communication work day to day?
Written updates as work progresses, a demo of working software every week, and async-first communication over email or Slack. You always know what was done, what's next, and what's blocking — without scheduling a meeting to find out.
How do contracts and invoicing work?
A straightforward services agreement with milestones, or a contract through Upwork if you prefer escrow and their payment protection. Payment by bank transfer, Stripe, or through Upwork.
Who owns the code and intellectual property?
You do. Full IP ownership transfers to you — source code, documentation, and infrastructure configuration. Repositories are set up under your organisation's control from the start wherever possible.
What does an engagement typically cost?
Most engagements start around $5K; smaller well-scoped work is considered case-by-case. After the intro call you get a fixed, written quote — no surprises mid-project.
